Rituals.....

Every morning before I leave for work we have a little ritual. Miss ~~Nautypants~~ Kiki has to be crated during the day, so we fill her Kong with peanut butter for her to keep busy with in the crate. This is something we started wayyyyyyyy before Stewie came to live with us. Well one morning a few weeks ago as I put Kiki in the crate, over ran Stewie. So I gave him a little lick of peanut butter. From that morning on every time I got the peanut butter out over the two of them ran. Well, last week Marty ran over with them. Oh, gosh, what the heck have I started?????

A tale of loss and dogs and bananas......

Some of you know that about 3 years ago I started helping my sister out with one of her private duty nursing jobs. It was 2 nights a week and was going to last "a few months or so". Since I already had a full time job I was okay with the short term job of being out two nights a week for double duty. Plus, the patient was my grammer school busdriver! I mean really grammer school wasn't just yesterday for me or anything. So both C and I took some hours. The days passed by and a few months became several years! The three of us became fast friends and then yesterday he died. Everyone should be so blessed to have a great friendship that spans several generations. Someone who just by you stopping by can make a smile appear or a smart remark..."oh gosh, you two again?". But our strongest bond came from our love for dogs. E had had many over his long life, his last a banana loving Golden, named Rusty, C who finally got her puppy during that time-frame and me...who over 3 years just kept adding more Pugs to my family. E NEVER questioned that...NEVER. He after all was the guy who fed his dog a banana every day at 2 p.m. He's the same guy who one day didn't have a banana and tried cookies, crackers, dog treats...everything....and then drove to the store and bought that darn dog a banana.....

We'll miss you E, give Rusty a banana for us......

Keeping out the chill

Our house was built in 1840 and we've spent years figuring out how to keep out some of the chill. The door from the kitchen to the Summer Porch is ALWAYS chilly. In years past I've put foam insulation board and taped it all up with a cover....but then there always seems to be some reason I want to go out there and taking that up and down is a pain. Anyhow, my DIL previously worked for a furniture store. They used Earth friendly fabrics and as styles changed the employees got to take the fabric samples home. She knows my fabric addiction and gave me BAGS of these samples. Over the weekend, in between the tile project, I put some to good use for that darn doorway. I made a HUGE patchwork curtain. There is still insulation behind it, but the curtain holds it in place. Looks sort of funky, eh?

But I couldn't let it go there. I made a pad for the bench too. "Some" of the furry gang believe this is the best seat in the house. With the radiator underneath and all! P sets them up in front of the bench with blankets and beds, but the younger ones think sitting ON the bench is great too. Kiki especially LOVES it up here. This used to be her launch pad for browsing the kitchen table. Now with the smaller table moved out...it's just her private spot!

MIA - long weekend project

This past weekend I finally dove into my kitchen tile project. A while back when our fridge broke, we couldn't find an almond replacement that would fit in the custom opening. We ended up going with black and got the stove at the same time. I knew then that I didn't want another over the stove mircrowave, so I held off on that purchase. Every time I looked at that almond microwave I said to P....we need to finish this!!! A couple of weeks ago we purchased the new fan/light and then realized....DUH...the tile doesn't cover the area where the microwave used to be! The tile was 25 years old and no where to be found....and of course I used the extra we had on a craft project! Double DUH. So we found a tile and waiting for the long weekend.

Saturday I took down the tile while P put in the new fan. That tile took a couple of hours to remove without harming the walls. I should have taken DURING photos, but holy crap, what a mess I was!

The Pugs tried to rest while all the noise was going on. Seriously I have no idea how they slept at all.

After it all came down I spackled the problem areas and cleaned up.

Sunday morning bright and early I glued up the new tiles and then met C for lunch for a break! On Monday I got up at 6 am and jumped into G-R-O-U-T.... gosh, I hate grouting......

Finally finished!!! I LOVE the new fan/light and the way the glass tile turned out. P thinks I should hire myself out. Uh......no....

When Stewie came to live with us from SEPRA his paperwork said his birthday was 12-21-09. Since he was found roaming the streets, we're not sure if he told them his birthday or SEPRA picked his special day! Nonetheless on 12-21 we started the celebration with him opening his gift. Of course EVERYONE was very interested in the gift...you know it might have been something EDIBLE.

Then we took him on his "solo" trip to the bakery for his special treat

Back at home the Pugs got out the party hats. (Sorry Stewie your having a "Dora" birthday!)

Every Friday Modern Dog Magazine does a little thing called Friday Freebies on Facebook...heh, say that three times fast!!! Anyhow, week after week, I comment on those darn give-a-aways. On December 16th one of the freebies was this batch of terrific gifts from NuttButtBakery! HAHA say that three times fast too!!!

My response to enter as to why I wanted to win was..."Wow, with a family of six Pugs we sure need this! Our newest rescue Stewie is always cold and the vest would be great...he could share the rest with his furry family". and drum roll please........... We won!!! We were contacted from NuttButt as to the size and color choices we wanted later that same day and about 8 days later our package arrived.

Happy New Year!!! with a little 2011 reflection....

Before we dive (or fall) headfirst into 2012 we thought we'd take a quick peek at the journey that was 2011.We started out in January with lots of snow and cold weather. We spent most of the time trying to stay one step ahead of Kiki the Destroyer.....

In February I worked on organizing my craft room.....

and....Kiki kept destroying.....

In March the bakery opened. I added storefront items and on St. Patrick's Day we took Rosie and Zoey over to pick up some treats. There we met Largo and his siblings and became fast friends!

In April Kiki continued to chew her way through the year.....

and sweet little Zoey took sick

In May we discovered Zoey had 2 Mast Cell Tumors and she had to have surgery with good results and

and C graduated from college!

In June we celebrated Kiki's 1st birthday at the bakery! We made it a joint fundraiser for her rescue Kentuckiana Pug Rescue!

and we spent the weekends at our camp, enjoying campfires and friends.

In July Kiki, my bf and I traveled to Indiana to pick up her rescue Vinnie!

While there those Indy peeps put on a BIG party!!!! Kiki got to see her Nanny Annie too!

In August we hung out on the Pugboat....

and then in September we drove and drove and drove and got our Stewie from SEPRA!!!!!

later in September we celebrated Vinnie's birthday and had visitors from Indiana!

In October C and I headed to North Carolina for our annual Bloggy Meetup.

In November P hauled "Fred" out of the barn to sell.......then decided to keep him.....

In December we partied and shopped and celebrated with our six pack of Pugs!!!!

Goodbye 2011, thanks for sharing it with us!!! Now let's rock out to 2012!!!!

6 years ago today we got that early morning call to say our baby girl had been born. She sure has mastered that "look"....trust me, she's happy, content and a tiny bit crazy, not as worried as she appears! Happy Birthday Rosie!!!!

Over the years I've seen cabinets to hold ribbon. Some were very small and cheaply made. Others too expensive!!! So, I asked P if he would make me one for Christmas. He took some measurements and surprised me by REALLY making me one!

Out of town wedding

Last Sunday morning P, C, and I got up VERY early and headed to Maryland for our nephew's wedding. He is in the Navy and being deployed, so this timeframe worked out perfect for them. I had never been to a Christmas Wedding. It was so pretty! I haven't had time to get photos from C and P yet. Unfortunately I came down sick and am struggling to keep moving!

On the way home C talked P into stopping at Gettysburg. We didn't spend a lot of time there, but at least I can say I've been there!

I recently purchased the doggy bowtie from you for my Pug Bruno. Bruno comes to work with me every day. The first day he wore the collar, a customer walked in and saw Bruno and said, "Oh hey little guy, you look like a chippendale with that bowtie, here's a dollar!" So the guy slipped the dollar under his collar! You will not belive this, but that first day Bruno made $7.00! He wore it the next day and the same thing happened, this time Bruno made $15.00 so we decided that Bruno's Dollar Collar is working as a fundraiser, and Bruno will be donating all of his tips he collects this holiday season and in the future to Southern Nevada Pug Rescue!!!! Wow, I really can't believe it's the countdown to Christmas!!! I'm not sure about anyone else, but this year I am frankly JUST NOT READY. We have an out of town wedding this weekend and instead of saying to myself...let's have fun, I'm saying "how the heck am I going to get it all done???? " I think the main problem this year is my complete lack of focus! Sort of feel like a fish with two tails.

This is how my evening looks: Post Office on way home from work; Kohl's to purchase a particular gift for my husband (and no P I'm not telling here!); Sewing project for wedding to finish, craft projects to finish; ALL gifts to wrap; and loving my furry ones in between!

Saturday was our Christmas Meetup. Everyone piled in the car for our hour drive. I'm pretty sure they thought we were going to camp. Silly little Pugs!P worked the door for awhile and was snacking. It didn't take long for them to locate him.

Before Thanksgiving I was contacted by a company to do a wholesale order for them. Samples were sent, emails were exhanged and they ordered 44 pairs. Yes, 44 pairs. I managed to finish after a marathon sewing day Sunday. 44 pairs....with 3 buttons each. That's a whole lot of buttons! I was VERY happy to package them up and ship them out.

Seems I've been so busy I missed my blogoversary!!! On November 3, 2005 I was on the internet looking at all things "pug" and came across a blog. I had no idea what a blog was, but thought "what the heck" let's try it. Now 6 years have passed. Our house has gone from this.......

I've traveled to Indy (3 times!!!), Raleigh NC, Charlotte NC, Blowing Rock NC, PA, and all over NYS and lived to tell. I've written 1,442 posts, taken zillions of photos, cried, laughed, learned, and loved! Thanks for being part of my life!!!

Nostalgic November - Day 21 sort of.....

We are still limping through the nostalgic month here at Pugpossessed. Unfortunately with the inkless printer (which I can't change the settings on to scan only) and my laptop photo problem, I find myself in a pickle. So we are just going a little nostalgic for last year in this photo. Rosie wanted to help test lights. We could NEVER do this with Kiki as she would have already bitten through and electrocuted herself. Many things around casa de pugpossessed changed because of Kiki!!!! That girl is NUTS. Good thing I'm fairly "punchy" too and P allows the destruction. Anyhow, the new laptop should arrive tomarrow. I am now searching my brain and house to find where oh where I wrote down the security code for our router. We have lots going on here now and may just dump all this nostalgia to get with the program!

Nostalgic November - Day 16

We are having some "nostalgia" issues here at the homefront. First off my power cord for my laptop broke. So I thought no worries, I have P's laptop to use. Then the printer ran out of ink. Now we ask why does that matter? Well apparently if the ink is out, the scanner won't work? Nonetheless, I found this circa 2005 holiday picture of Chloe and Zoey! Two Pugs! I'm pretty sure back then I would NEVER have dreamed I'd have six!

Notalgic November - Day 12

This day always is a day mixed with sadness for me. This is th 11th anniversary of my mom's death. She died at 61 from lung cancer. We had no time to ready ourselves for her death. She went into the hospital for what they diagnosed as a back problem. After 10 days in the hospital they determined she had cancer. She passed 4 days later. To this day I'm not sure any of us knew what had hit us.

October 1955 My mom and her sister getting ready for my aunt's wedding. At this point my parent's had their own wedding planned for November 19th. I'm pretty sure my mom was extremely happy here!

Today also marks a happy time for us! Today is Chloe's 9th birthday!

I can not begin to tell you how much fun this was!!! My dad took me on the tractor all the time! I can still see myself sitting on that built in tool box and my dad telling me to be careful and hold on! I think he let me drive by our house in this photo so my mom could get a quick picture! When we moved fromt the farm we only moved across the field, so the farm was still a big part of my life. Oh, how I miss those days!

I only have one sibling, a much younger sister! I was 9 years old when she was born! Wow, was my nose out of joint! Despite the age difference we did have fun growing up. Since I was much older I had to babysit. Ugh! When my parents split I was 15 and she was 6. My mom went back to work and I remember having to watch her. I'm not sure how either of us survived!! Only kidding!!! This photo was taken the day I graduated from highschool. She bought me that big sucker for my graduation gift.

Nostalgic November - Childhood Pets

I have had pets all my life. Looking back I see pet ownership was different years ago. My dad's family ran a farm. Pet's had jobs on the farm. The dogs helped heard animals and ran security. The cat's took care of rodents. I don't recall ever seeing pets inside at their house when I was a child. My mom's mother grew up on a farm too, but didn't like animals very much. I recall my grandfather having a hunting dog. He ran away and honestly to this day I've always wondered if my gram let him go!

My mom and dad both loved animals and my dad bought my mom our first family pet. A little cocker spaniel. He was jet black, hence his name "Inky". Inky lived with us INSIDE. He passed away when I was 6 or so. My parents believed that our cranky old neighbor poisoned him.

I had bunnies a couple of different times. I don't especially remember this pair. I do remember getting a white bunny for Easter once and years later my sister and I had a pair. Mine got eatten by a wild dog and my sister's got loose. We spent an entire Summer trying to catch that darn rabbit.

This was our first German Shepard. His name was Prince and we got him after Inky passed away. He was a great dog. He used to bring my cat back into the yard if he got too close to the street. There were no leash laws in those days. We lived out in the country, so people didn't worry too much. Prince sadly was shot by a neighbor's teenage son. It was Winter and my dad tracked him by the blood in the snow. He was in bad shape and had to be put down. I heard something about maybe surviving if his leg was removed, but my dad didn't believe that was the right thing to do. I was only 6 at the time.

After Prince died my dad bought my mom another Shepard. We named her "Lady". She was a beautiful dog, but the paperboy kicked her when he delivered our paper and she HATED bikes. She would chase anyone down on a bike.

She had a litter of puppies and her tempermant got even worse. She never went after any of us, but lord help you if you were a stranger! We started getting telephone calls with people saying she had bitten their kids on their bikes. We paid for lots of ripped pants! I remember my mom dressed up in a wild outfit and riding my bike by our house. Lady ignored her completely. She never chased me either. My parents got many warnings about her behavior and tried their best to keep her inside or tied. Nothing seemed to work. One day the police came and told my dad, either you destroy your dog or we will have to. My parents were devastated. My dad would not let them take her and said he would take care of it himself. I remember my mom crying her heart out that day and I begged my dad not to. I can't imagine how hard that was for him and he never spoke of it again. For several weeks after we continued to get telephone calls that our dog had bite someone. My mom was furious! We know she did bite, but honestly think she may have been blamed for some events that she was not involved in.

Here is my first "Dusty". Dusty was a kooky cat. He actually slept with Lady and her puppies! Lady might have chased bikes, but not cats!!! Not sure how I came about getting him. He disappeared when we left for vacation. Our neighbors were feeding him and they told us the day we left, he left. I always wondered if he followed us and got lost.

Here is Prince II. He was one of Lady's puppies we kept. I honestly don't remember what happened to him. I think we had him for quite awhile.

This is Dusty II. It seems we weren't very original with our pet's names! This Dusty was crazy! He used to follow my dad out in the woods when he went hunting. My dad swears he flushed out Pheasants for him! This photo was from after one of those adventures! He was a great cat!

When I was about 12 I had a big black cat and then was allowed to get a "show cat", a Siamese I named Sa-Boo. OMG that cat was NUTS. He used to hide and jump out and bite. Anything that moved he went after. My parents were having marital problems and sold our house when I was 15. We moved into an apartment and cats were not allowed. My aunt took Sa-Boo and my dad took my black cat, Sammy to live at his office. I don't think Sammy could figure out what was going on and would not stay at the barn. Eventually he disappeared. I never quite could forgive my dad for that.

When my parents divorced my mom moved my sister and I into a house. She got me a tiger cat that I named Troubles.

I can not remember this dogs name at all. Not sure my sister does either. When my grandfather died my grama asked us to move home with her. My mom had to give away this little guy, but I got to take my cat. Imagine my gram's surprise when my cat delivered kittens!!!! Troubles got hit by a car right before I left for college. Everyone tried to hide it from me, but my sister blabbed it.

I am glad people are more aware of taking care of their pets. Things have changed a lot since I was young!

Nostalgic November - Day 4

Those "generation" photos. I'm sure most every family has them. The first photo is circa 1967. I was 8 years old and still an only child! My mom was 25 here, my gram was 46 and my great-grandmother was 67. My great-grandmother had four children, 2 sons and 2 daughters, who all settled in our hometown. Everyone lived within 2 blocks of each other. Growing up there were lots and lots of times together. My great-grandmother would start her day with coffee at our house, then she'd head up the street to my great-aunt's house for coffee time with her. My mom and I would venture up there and my grandma would come over after her housework was done. (that lady sure had a clean house!). This would happen day after the day! Sometimes when coffee time finally ended everyone would head home to start dinner and we'd usually end up eatting one family or another too! It was a wonderful, happy way to grow up.

This generations photo moves to October of 1983. It was taken at my mom's wedding to my step-dad. R was 8 months old, I was 27, my mom was 44 and my gram was 65. If you notice the mark on R's head, that morning he pulled the musical mobile down on him in his crib. He had a huge egg and mark! Oh, my gram was mad at me, letting "her boy" get hurt!

Oh, the kiss and tell post! This photo is from 1958 and I was 2. My parents lived in the carriage house on my grandparent's farm. The farm being where we have lived for the past 24 years. I don't have many memories of living there as we moved when I was about 4 1/2. The boy I'm kissing? He lived up the street and our dad's were briefly in business together. I do recall his last name, but not his first name. Guess that kiss meant nothing! I do remember going to grammer school with him and how he wet his pants one day! Oh gosh, the things that stick in your head!

This photo is of my mom, sister and I. I was 16, my sister was 7 and my mom was 33! My sister and I were in my cousins wedding. My parents had just separated a few months earlier, so it was just "us girls" at the time. I hadn't told anyone about my parent's separation. Not even my best friend. Back in the 1970's there seemed to be a real stigma with divorce. I'm not sure why I felt like a failure, but I did. I really knew my parents should not remain together for us kids and I told my mom that time and time again. The real problem was that my parents married wayyyyyyy too young! My mom was 16, my dad 20.

So back to the photo/wedding. I was maid of honor and the best man took a shining to me at pre-wedding festivities and asked me on a date. My mom mentioned the "date" to my dad and he blew his stack saying I was way to young to date. Mind you it was a double date (any one remember those?). My mom reminded my dad that they had gotten married when she was my age. My dad's reply was "my point exactly". Seemed it was different since it was his daughter!

I have always loved the Fall. The smells, the colors, apples, pumpkins, cool clear nights and anticipating Winter. Then in 2000 that changed for me. In the Fall of 2000, my grandmother passed and then a few weeks later I rode in an ambulance for the first time in my life. I rode in that ambulance with my mom. Little did I know on that drive that it would be the last time I ever rode anywhere with my mom. In fact it was the last time my mom would leave her house, never to return. Little did I know that exactly 2 weeks from that day my mom would be gone. Those 2 weeks lasted forever, yet only a moment. If I could turn back the clock, what might I have done different. I think probably nothing. Because through all my sadness, I know in my heart that all things do happen for a reason and though sometimes I might shake a fist at the sky and question why, it doesn't change a thing.

My mom was a great lady and she helped me become who I am. So for November 2011, I am going nostalgic. "Nostalgic November". A month of memories through photos and words. Hope you'll join me!

The other day we had strong winds. When I let the dogs out I glanced over by the boat and thought...where did that bush come from by the boat....opps......

The ivy on this tree was very cool and the darn woodpeckers were enjoying it too, but we knew it was only a matter of time until it came down. Thankfully no one was in the yard when it happened!! Not sure I could have outrun that tree! P had me strap on my work gloves and it only took us an hour and a half to get it all cleaned up. Now I can add "lumberjack" to my resume.

Bloggy Meetup 2011 - Part II

Saturday morning we got up early and headed to the Farmer's Market in Boone, NC. First stop was the Alpacas. Neither one was very interested in making friends. The black one was making some crazy noises.

Since we were staying longer and had a long drive home, we decided fresh fruit and veggies weren't a good idea for us. We did enjoy hot cups of coffee and C got a muffin. We didn't stay long as we were heading back to the house to get ready to get ready to walk around Blowing Rock.

It turned out to be a great day! The town was quaint and had lots of places to stop between shopping. Some of us went and got Gelatos (my first one!) and a few got lunch. There was a lot to look at (and buy), but C reined me in since the trunk of the car was SO SMALL!

When we got back to the house we decided to work on the art project I brought. Girlville and I thought painted plaques would be something simple we could work on and still get plenty of talking in!

Bloggy Meetup 2011 - Part 1

So we've officially been home for more than 24 hours now. Strange how quickly things fall back into "normal". We had a WONDERFUL trip. Those of you that have followed along with me may know that I have been on several Bloggy Meetup Trips. This year's trip was to Blowing Rock, NC

C and I started out at 3:30 a.m. We were nearly through Pennsylvania when daylight took over. The scenery was awesome. We took so many photos of the drive itself!

We had decided to rent a car and were supposed to get a Ford Escort. When C picked it up, there were no cars available, so we got a 2012 Mustang Convertible! We agreed that once the temperature reached at least 60 we would put the top down. We saw a nice exit for New River Gorge, so we pulled off for a "pit" stop. We couldn'nt have picked a more beautiful spot! There was a center, exhibits and many walking paths. If there had been more time we definetely would have visited longer.

We drove and drove and drove. We made it all the way through West Virginia in what seemed like 15 days. Our trip-tik had us going through a bit of Virginia and then into North Carolina....but....Mrs. Garmin had other ideas for us and we took the "backway" in and ended up going through Tennesee. It's always better to think you may be lost with someone else in the car! The road was two lanes and VERY CURVY and in the woods with a creek along side of us and NO guardrails. I am beginning to think other states don't believe in guardrails! At one point we came upon a man trying to catch his horse that was walking down the street! I so wanted to take a photo, but honestly I'm not sure who looked more surprised me or the horse.

Hours later when we finally arrived at the mountain area we got a tad lost and had to call Girlville to guide us into the right part of the mountain to find the house! It was BEAUTIFUL!!!!! We were the second car to arrive and it was so fun to be greeted and helped into the house. We had wine and cheese while we waited for the others to arrive. Once everyone had arrived we sat down to some of Girlville's awesome Chili! Then we did what we all do best...TALK and TALK and TALK!

Sorry for the delay in talking about our fun weekend!!! I switched to the new Blogger interface and was a little slowwwwwwwwww working it out!!!

We waiting Saturday for our houseguests to arrive. Finally at 7 p.m. they rolled into the driveway.

Now we would have normally taken some more photos of the arrival. But it was pretty much like "welcome to camp crazy"! Our gang were barking their little wiggly butts off when our friends Jess with Miss Mia and Vikki with Mr. Ernie came into the house! Miss Kiki has already been to Ernie's house twice, and we all met Mia, but frankly the poor thing had only been with Jess for a day, so everything was very different this time around. We pretty much decided that Mia and our Zoey were "birds of a feather". They looked alike and sure acted alike! They took MANY more photos of Saturday night than I did, so be sure to check out their blogs to see the action from their view!

We ate a late dinner and sat and talked. We got to talking about Lilo and our other little furry friends that have passed. This year has been an especially hard one for our little world of Pugs. Jess has a glass bead that she had custom made for Lilo from Maybeads. Jess and I were talking about how Maybeads was working on a huge order of Pug beads. I told them how I secretly SO wished that one of my own friends had ordered all those custom beads and that maybe I'd get one as a gift. So they went outside to get their bags and when they came back in they were bearing gifts....

Stewie took his first trip to the bakery. Of course the absolute minute we grab his harness Kiki wants to join in. These two are quite a pair! Against my better judgment I let the two of them sit in the front seat. They actually did behave. It's only 2 blocks away so they didn't have long to stay good!Once inside Stewie stuck to Kiki like glue. Then I showed him the cookie showcase!

We popped all six in the back and headed off for camp. Everyone but Kiki napped. She preferred overseeing the drive.

Once there P set up the "pugpen" and everyone got in.Not long after we got there C, PJ, and Charlie arrived. They all decided to go out on the boat, so I decided to grab a quick nap. This is the scene that greeted P when he got back a couple hours later.....Charlie took a rest in between playing. Finally Rosie plays tug with Charlie! She wanted to so bad and finally got the courage.
On Monday everyone headed out and I decided to check the internet. Seems Stewie figured out how to help surf the web....

Then Stewie settled in for a nap. Seems that boy can sleep anywhere.

Meeting the gang....

Everyone was anxiously awaiting our arrival at home. Although we did not expect that homecoming to be at 3:30 a.m., it was all good! I walked in first and was greeted crazily by the gang...a few minutes later P walked in with Stewie. There was a LOT of sniffing and Kiki barked like crazy. We put Stewie in the pen in the middle of the kitchen to get his bearings. He came from a foster home with multiple Pugs, so he pretty much took it all in stride.

Come on mom, let me out...I can handle it!We popped trouble maker Kiki into the pen..... she was VERY interested....and then just let him out and all was well...

P headed off for a couple hours sleep and I did my best to stay up. Around 5 a.m. I knew I was not going to be able to pull an all-nighter, so I popped Stewie into the crate and headed to be with the others. I layed in bed and listened for any crying and was so wound up I couldn't sleep. Finally I drifted off and before I knew it the alarm was ringing....7 a.m. Time to get up and pack for camp!!!!

The morning started out with a texted photo from Stewie's foster mom....she wrote "hurry up, I'm ready". Seriously is he NOT the cutest!!!!We left home around 9 a.m. The ETA for the pickup had been moved to about 7 p.m., but we wanted to make an adventure out of the drive. We stopped in Erie PA to get lunch. P had seen recently that a QuakerSteak&Lube had opened in our area and really wanted to stop there. If you haven't been there it is fashioned after auto repair type place. There was a lot to look at! This car was hanging over my head during lunch, which was delicious!!!! I had the BEST salad I have ever eatten! The service was excellent and included "coffee to go". Certainly the way to my heart! From there we left STUFFED for the drive to Pittsburgh PA and TraderJoes! Oh, how I love TJs!!!! It was a much smaller TJs than I have visiting in other areas, but we still managed to buy several bags of stuff!

Here is where I should have several photos of us LOST, CONFUSED, and ready to throw the GPS out the damn window....but, we ended up having a pretty good laugh about it ONCE we escaped the area and made it to the highway! Where we headed to Wheeling WV and Cabelas. Imagine our surprise when we got there and DockDogs were there. Wow, those dogs can jump and swim. I did not see any Pugs in the lineup. Hmmm, wonder why?

Okay the inside of this place...insane. I never saw so many STUFFED animals in my entire life. First stop was the African Exhibit. I think at this point I was still pretending that these animals were plastic or FAKE. P played along with my little game.

P found a new hat, tshirt and some fishing lures. I pretty much felt I was lucky to get out of there with only those purchases. We headed over to Target to purchase a new car charger and then to Sheetz for a cup of coffee for me. It was now 7:30 p.m. and the new ETA for Stewie was 8:15 or so. We got to the meeting place and parked. It was HOT. We chatted and anxiously awaited his arrival. At 8:30 we got a call they were 18 minutes away!

They pulled in and there was our little guy. I picked him up and handed him over to his daddy.His wonderful transport peeps!!!! They have a car that advertises SEPRA!! We so appreciated them giving Stewie a "lift" from St. Louis MI!!!!We hung around and chatted for about an hour. Funny thing, some guy came over to take a photo of the race car....he thought it was SO amazing that we had never met and were into rescue! You just never know when your going to make an impact on someone!At 10:00 p.m. we left for home!!!

Stewie's Story...

Oh Stewie!!! We love him to pieces!!!!

Stewie is from SEPRA. Harry's Pugalicious' mom and I were chatting on fb and I "mentioned" P saying number 6 could happen for me. She mentioned SEPRA had taken in some Pugs from a hoarder and I popped on the website to see them. In the process I saw Pogo. I sent her a note and asked if she knew if he was available...yeppers. I asked his story. Stray, demodetic , around 2, was adopted...and returned for being "active". Well, you all know Kiki and know ACTIVE IS KIKI. I mean ACTIVE after NAUGHTY. Anyhow, we put in application and even though many questioned our sanity...were approved! One little detail...he was being fostered in Missouri. Thankfully a WONDERFUL member of SEPRA just happened to be vacationing in Nebraska this past week and offered to let him hitch a ride from Missouri to Washington, PA. P and I decided to make a fun day out of the road trip to meet up with them.

This was probably our last long weekend at camp for the season. Saturday morning P went out fishing VERY early. He was VERY happy to have caught his biggest Salmon of the season. 30 pounds...wow. Too bad I refuse to eat it. Refuse. The end.Around noon P's little sister and her husband arrived with their dog, Flash. Flash is around 12 years old and a rescue. They got her when she was around a year old. She was attacked when she was young, so she is NOT thrilled about other dogs approaching. She did okay with our group for the most part, but we made sure to be very careful. After dinner we took a walk to the water with Flash, Rosie and Kiki....Rosie looking worried...as always. Around dusk they left and we had a campfire with camp friends. We went inside around 10pm. A bit later our phone rang telling us that everyone with boats were removing them from the docks due to the bad weather expected Sunday. We didn't have our truck, but everyone was helpful and some young men and the owner took out most of the boats with the campground equipment. When we got up Sunday morning the wind was pretty brisk. Although they told us to expect 25 mph winds we had wind gusts of 50 mph. Nowhere near what others were getting, but bad enough for us.Our little bay's entrance got filled in and will most likely remained closed off from Lake Ontario for the rest of the season. The dock usually goes straight out.....not so straight anymore.The lake side was pretty rough.....

Amazing how far we were from the hurricane itself......

It was a good day to stay inside and sew! Today the lake and bay were both calm as could be. P put our boat back into the water and spent some time bay fishing. Afterwards we cleaned and packed up for home. The Pugs....the Pugs did what they do best....relax......

Oh that rainbow bridge......

Many moons ago I was surfing the internet looking for all things Pug. I came across a blog...All Up in the Koolaide aka Alfreds' Mom, a blog. This blog lead me to Ragus Pugs. We followed each others blogs and emailed. Finally we and a bunch of other bloggers met. I survived a 14 hours drive, met some bloggers and lived! Time passed, more blogged, some stopped, babies were born, sweet Pugs passed and Alfred's mom followed her husband to Korea for the Army. Sadly her Pugs Alfred and Holly could not go due to health and age, but Sandy stepped up and they moved in with her. Anyone who knows Sandy knows she has a BIG BIG heart and a real love for the Seniors.

Today Alfred passed. Alfred the first little Pug blog I ever read. God Bless Sandy and her hubby and Chalica who is now mourning Alfred for a second time. Hug your Pugs and each other and remember what a wonderful world we live in and how even with the bad we see and hear about, there are good and wonderful people out there.
